A shot from the dawn of our second day in the Torres del Paine national park. It was a beautiful morning... I won't get into how the day progressed though, except that included walking through steppes, sands, thorns, woods, swamps, stones and ultimately knee-deep snow, all with 20-kg backpacks on our backs lol Still, for scenes like this, it was definitely worth it 3-shot HDR Torres del Paine national park, Chile September, 2008.
Wow, that's quite a reaction But yeah, I agree. There are some quite specific cases for which I would use HDR now, but mostly it really is not needed when blending works so much better (well, blending is technically also a form of HDR, but it's quite a natural one)
In all honesty, I like this original (this one) more. But the other one has more effect to it.. Which will draw more to the viewers eyes. I like this though, because even though things aren't brighten.. It looks real. It's the real thing. You look at this, and you see the entire mountain. I love it.
Hehe, you know what the irony is? The other one is actually closer to the real thing (as far as colors and light go). This one is HDR so there are some effects happening here with light that are a bit strange, and the snow here is somehow yellow-y, while it was actually clear white, as in the other (non-HDR) shot.
Still, appeal is subjective, and there is a charm to this one too. Thank you for the honest opinion, and actually I'm glad you like this one better, it means you see things differently than most
I really enjoy both versions of this picture, however, I think this one is more appealing. This one is a bit more magical and reminds me much of Lord of the Rings. The other one is detailed and lovely, but it's that magic spark in this one that I love . The reflection is amazing! It's so clear and crisp, it's as if it's a completely different picture that you photoshopped in. But you wouldn't do that because you're awesome and talented . Ultimately, this picture is fantastic! From the composition to the lighting/coloring, it's amazing .
Look for all the grey areas, that's... I prefer the exposure blending, using it many times on my own.
I like the image, but HDR, I don't know.
I would recomment to you to forget HDRs totally and just do the exposure blending, the results look much more professional.

Thanks for the comment
Well, I realized the age of this picture too late
Beautiful work on both.
